Known Issues and Limitations
Following is a list of the known issues and limitations associated with this release of WTE:
- WTE must be running in the context of a system administrator account, or Local System Account.
- WTE supports only pulse code modulation (PCM) audio formats. For a list of supported formats, see PCMWaveFormats. For best results, use a format supported by the audio driver.
- This release was tested with up to 24 concurrent calls, yielding good results on a Pentium III computer, 500 megahertz (mHz), 256 megabytes (MB) of random access memory (RAM). It is possible to use the system with more telephone lines.
- WTE may not answer calls right after rebooting the host system in automatic startup mode. The TAPI service and the voice board's service start concurrently and as a result the TAPI service may fail to open the lines. To avoid delays in call answering by WTE, you need to configure the services by means of the Computer Management service.
- In this release, WTE does not use the Address Group logging field.
- WTE supports Microsoft JScript®, but not the JScript protocol (<A HREF=javascript:foo()></A>). If the caller chooses such a link, a warning log is generated but the operation is not carried out.
- The GoBack method does not return to the correct point if the WTE loads a page into a frame in which the page is already loaded.
- If the LANGUAGE attribute is not specified in a SCRIPT element or in an event handler, the WTE assumes that the default language is JScript. This is not always the case for Microsoft Internet Explorer. It is recommended that you specify the LANGUAGE attribute on all SCRIPT elements and event handlers.
- The NOHREF attribute is ignored when it is used on an AREA element. WTE disables the menu item only if the NOHREF attribute is set from a script.
- The window.close method is not supported. It will cause a call to be blocked.
- If a script invokes a message box, the call might be blocked (see Message Box Management). Other calls are not affected. If the caller hangs up the current call, the next call will be answered. The window mode of the WTE is useful for determining the cause of a blocked call. For more information, see Running the Web Telephony Service in Window Mode.
- Setting any of the text-to-speech (TTS) speed, pitch or volume parameters to a value that is out of the TTS engine's range disconnects the call. An audio failure is logged.
