Platform SDK: Web Telephony Engine |
A caller enters input by pressing the DTMF keys on the telephone. The WTE receives the tones generated by each keystroke, translates them into the corresponding digits, and passes the digits to the application.
If a SAPI 4.0a SR engine is installed on the computer and enabled in the application, the caller can enter input by speaking as well as by pressing DTMF keys. When the caller speaks, the SR engine translates the speech into text and passes it to the application. For more information about SR, see Getting Spoken Input from the Caller.
