Platform SDK: Web Telephony Engine

The Web Telephony Programming Model

The programming model for creating a Web telephony application is similar in many respects to building a regular Web site. You use your favorite Web authoring tools to create a set of Web pages containing HTML elements, scripts, Microsoft ActiveX® controls, Java applets, and so on. The main difference is that in a Web telephony application you use additional HTML attributes, cascading style sheet (CSS) styles, scripting events, and Internet Explorer objects that are currently supported only by the WTE. In addition, a Web telephony application uses TAPI to perform telephony operations, and can query and set configuration parameters of the text-to-speech (TTS) and speech-recognition (SR) engines.
