Receiving a Selection from the Caller

After offering a menu, the WTE waits for the caller to select one of the menu items. The caller selects an item by pressing the DTMF digit assigned to the item. If SR is enabled, the caller can select an item by speaking (see Using Speech Recognition to Receive a Selection).

The WTE supports a CSS property called cut-through. Setting this property to 'yes' (the default setting) allows the caller to select an item before the WTE has finished announcing all the items in the menu. This lets frequent callers navigate quickly through your application. Setting the cut-through property to 'no' requires the caller to listen to the entire menu announcement before being able to make a selection. This is useful when menus have recently changed or when giving an important announcement. Any DTMF digits received while the cut-through property is 'no' are ignored. Note that the cut-through property does not work with SR.
