The Washington State Nature Conservancy Project

Updated: September 6, 1996

In 1996, the Washington State chapter of The Nature Conservancy worked with Microsoft and with two Seattle-based firms (Tim Girvin Design and Metabridge) to design and build a state-of-the-art Web site (http://www.tnc-washington.org Non-MS link) that would help drive the charter of their organization. (Before visiting the Web site, make sure to download Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 or later Non-MSDN Online link.)

The Web site was designed to be a great place to learn about wildlife preserves in Washington State, and was completely designed, built, and activated with Microsoft Internet products and technologies.

This section of the MSDN Online Web Workshop provides the following articles and sample code that document the solutions used to build The Nature Conservancy Web site:

* The Nature Conservancy of Washington Web Site: Introduction and Site Tour
* The Hidden Challenges of Going Online
* On the Road to Good Web Design
* Copyright Acquisitions
* Using Framesets with JScript
* Creating a Slide Show Using the ActiveX Timer Control
