Building Your Intranet with Site Server 3.0

Microsoft Corporation

Updated: June 19, 1998

If you want to know how to use our newest package of tools and services to build intranet sites and applications, you've come to the right place. In fact, there's so much new information about Site Server 3.0 that we've teamed up with our siblings at MSDN to bring you this feature package of technical articles.

Even if you've already seen this feature package once, be sure to look at the new white paper we've added on configuring and tuning the Site Server 3.0 membership directory. We've also added a new link to some online classes about Site Server 3.0. The classes are geared for developers and Web builders, and are delivered to your desktop via streaming video.

We split up the articles according to our audiences; the articles on MSDN are aimed at developers, while the articles on MSDN Online Web Workshop are aimed at site builders. But don't worry — we've cross-linked everything. You can find a complete list of the articles, as well as a short description of Site Server 3.0, below.

Server 3.0 is for Developers

Site Server 3.0 provides a broad set of features for building and maintaining intranet sites. The package includes an enterprise search service, tools for building and deploying sites, analysis tools, and personalization and content-pushing services.

It's tightly integrated with Internet Information Server 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0, and was designed to be enhanced and extended by developers who are building intranet and Web applications.

For basic information about Site Server and the Commerce Edition (which adds more features), check the Site Server site. You can also download a free 90-day evaluation version from there.

Here are the articles. Check back occasionally — we plan to add new articles over the next few weeks.
