Microsoft® JScript® ReadAll Method |
Scripting Run-Time Reference Version 2 |
Reads an entire TextStream file and returns the resulting string.
object.ReadAll( );The object is always the name of a TextStream object.
For large files, using the ReadAll method wastes memory resources. Other techniques should be used to input a file, such as reading a file line by line.The following example illustrates the use of the ReadAll method:
function GetEverything() { var fso, f; var ForReading = 1, ForWriting = 2; fso = new ActiveXObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject"); f = fso.OpenTextFile("c:\\testfile.txt", ForWriting, true); f.Write("Header"); f.Write("1234567890987654321"); f.Close(); f = fso.OpenTextFile("c:\\testfile.txt", ForReading); return(f.ReadAll()); }
