ASP <%= Request.Form() %> Returns Blank

SYMPTOMS

ASP <%= Request.Form() %> returns blank if the browser sends the duplicate "Content-Type : application/x-www-form-urlencoded" header field to an Internet Information Server computer. The correct content is returned if the page is refreshed in the browser. This problem may occur if the ASP page referenced in the Form tag in a page is in a different virtual directory with a different authentication method.


CAUSE

Internet Information Server (IIS) failed to properly handle the redundant Content-Type header field.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0 or Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. For additional information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Internet Information Server version 4.0. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition Service Pack 4.
