Cannot Administer Index Server 2.0 from the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) on Windows NT Workstation 4.0

SYMPTOMS

It is not possible to administer Index Server 2.0 from the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) on a computer running Windows NT Workstation 4.0.


CAUSE

There is no supported way to administer Index Server 2.0 on a computer running Windows NT Workstation 4.0 other than using the HTML Admin.


MORE INFORMATION

  • The only way to administer through the MMC is through the Index Server snap-in.


  • Index Server must be installed for the snap-in to be present.


  • Index Server 2.0 will not install on Windows NT Workstation 4.0.
