SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to browse a folder on an FTP site, one of the following error messages may occur:
- Using Internet Explorer:
An error occurred opening the folder on the FTP Server. Make sure you have the permission to access this folder.
Details:
550 /UserName: Access is denied.
- Using the Windows NT FTP utility:
550 UserName: Access is denied.
CAUSE
The user account that was used to log on to the FTP site does not have the appropriate permissions to browse the folder.
Note: When you use Internet Explorer to browse the site, the Anonymous account is automatically used.
RESOLUTION
Verify that the user account has the right to log on locally, and that the folder permission provides the user with the full control access.
To verify that the user account has the right to log on locally, do the following:
- Open User Manager (or User Manager for Domains).
- Click Policies, and then choose User Rights.
- From the drop-down list, choose Log on Locally.
- Click Add, and then choose User/s needed to access this FTP server.
- Click OK.
- Click OK.
- Close User Manager.
