Active Caching Stops Working After 10 Name Resolution Errors

ID: Q238580

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Proxy Server version 2.0

SYMPTOMS

After your Proxy Server version 2.0 computer receives active cache requests, active caching may stop.

This problem can occur if your Proxy Server version 2.0 computer encounters name resolution errors. Proxy Server version 2.0 maintains a count of active cache requests currently outstanding, and only permits 10 at any time. However, the name resolution error path does not decrement the count, and after receiving 10 errors, active caching stops.

RESOLUTION
