SYMPTOMSThe Winsock Proxy service in Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0 may cause an "Access violation" error message when the service is restarted. CAUSEThis behavior can occur if a Winsock client has sent a message to the server instance that was already terminated. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain and install Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0 Service Pack 1 (SP1).
