Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server versions 4.0, 4.0a
SUMMARY
Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server can provide e-mail confirmation
for faxes successfully transmitted. This article describes how to configure
the server and client to send and receive notifications.
MORE INFORMATION
To enable e-mail notification of successful transmission, follow these
steps:
On the Small Business Server
- Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then
double-click Fax Server.
- Click the Routing tab.
- Click the Allow Routing via E-Mail checkbox, select
Administrator from the Profile Name list box, and then click
OK.
- Double-click Services in Control Panel.
- Select the Fax Service and click Stop.
- After the Fax service is stopped, click Start.
On the SBS Client
- Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then
double-click the Fax Client.
- Click the General Tab.
- Enter the Exchange Server mailbox in the Email Address.
(This is the Users Mail Box name, not the entire SMTP email
address. So if the users email address is Jsmith@Acme.Com,
they would enter only Jsmith in the email address box.)
- Click OK.
- Send a fax using any of the following methods: Exchange client,
Outlook client, Fax Send Utility, or File Print to Fax from within an
application.
After the fax is sent, a sent confirmation will arrive in the Inbox of the
Exchange mailbox supplied for "Email address."
The steps above apply to both Windows NT and Windows 95 clients.
