Installation of Remote Boot (RPL) Fails on SBS

SYMPTOMS

When you install the Windows NT Remote Boot service, not only is the Remote Boot service installed but the client portion is also required to be copied on to the server. When prompted for the client portion, the dialog box directs the installation to the Windows NT Server compact disc Clients\RPL folder. When the path to the client portion is entered, there are file copy errors during the installation.

CAUSE

The Clients\RPL folder is not provided with BackOffice Small Business Server (SBS).

RESOLUTION

The Windows NT Remote Boot service was never intended to be supported with SBS.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
