SBS: Wizards Display Incorrectly in 640 x 480 Resolution

ID: Q199082

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server version 4.0

SYMPTOMS

Small Business Server wizards have either truncated text or dialog boxes that are difficult to read.

The following are some examples of this problem:

  • The Mail Retrieval window does not fit in 640 x 480 screen resolution. OK or Cancel buttons are not present on the screen unless the user moves the Mail Retrieval window up. If the user moves the Mail Retrieval window up, the title of Mail Retrieval window is truncated.

  • The AutoDial window does not fit in 640 x 480 screen resolution. OK or Cancel buttons are not present on the screen, unless the user moves the AutoDial window up. If the user moves the AutoDial window up, the title of AutoDial window is truncated.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the video resolution is not set correctly. Video resolution needs to be 800 x 600 with 16 colors for BackOffice Small Business Server to work correctly.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, set the resolution to 800 x 600 by doing one of the following:

  • Updating the video adapter.

  • Installing correct video driver.

  • Changing the display property settings for a higher resolution (if supported by existing video driver or card).

MORE INFORMATION

The above settings may also make it difficult to read the Small Business Server Console and To Do List.
