Proxy Server 2.0 Client Cannot Be Removed from Add/Remove Programs on SBS 4.5 Client

• Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server version 4.5

SYMPTOMS

An error message will appear if you try to remove the client for Proxy Server 2.0 when the following two conditions exist:

• The computer is set up as a client for Small Business Server 4.5 (Japanese version).



• The client for Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0 is removed by using the Add/Remove Program tool and selecting the Proxy client directly.

CAUSE

This behavior is by product design.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, use one of these two methods below to remove the Proxy 2.0 client:

• Through the Add/Remove Program tool.



1. Open the Add/Remove Programs tool.



2. Select Microsoft Small Business Server.



3. Click to select all items currently installed except for Proxy Server 2.0 client.



4. Click OK



• Through the Start menu.



1. Click Start, and then click Programs.



2. Click Microsoft Proxy Client.



3. Double-click the Uninstall option.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Small Business Server, Japanese Version.
