SBS: Fax Client Error Msg: Insufficient Memory to Perform Operation

ID: Q217389

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server versions 4.0, 4.0a, 4.5

SYMPTOMS

When you send faxes on computers running Windows 95 or Windows 98 to a large number of fax recipients or use a distribution list with a large number of recipients, you get a message indicating the following:

Microsoft Fax Server Client: Insufficient memory to complete operation.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because resource allocations in Windows 95 and Windows 98 for handling of fax addresses is limited and, as a result, only 35 fax address entries can be accommodated.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, use a distribution list with 35 or fewer addresses or, because this is not a limit on Windows NT clients, send faxes with a large distribution from a Windows NT client.

MORE INFORMATION

Sending faxes on computers running Windows 95 or Windows 98 to a large number of fax recipients, or using a distribution list with a large number of recipients is sometimes called a broadcast fax.
