BackOffice Server Wizards Do Not Install on Windows NT Member Server

SYMPTOMS

When you install BackOffice Server 4.5 on Windows NT member server, the following error message appears:

Manage Server - Unable to register/start the SamInfo1 Control Pack...

CAUSE

The Add/Remove/Change Users and Distribution Wizard, which is part of the BackOffice Administrative tools, will not function on member servers. These wizards are dependant upon the Saminfo1.ocx file, which must access the domain SAM database.

RESOLUTION

To perform database functions, use the BackOffice Server Manager MMC snap-in or the BackOffice Web Administrator.
