Modem Sharing Port Description Displayed in English in Japanese Version of SBS 4.5

SYMPTOMS

After you install the Japanese version of Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server version 4.5 on your computer, the port description for Modem Sharing may be displayed in English characters instead of the appropriate Japanese characters.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if you configure Modem Sharing on a Microsoft Windows 95 client using the NETMODEM command at a command prompt.

Note that this problem does not occur if you configure Modem Sharing using the graphical user interface (GUI).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server 4.5 (Japanese version).
