SYMPTOMS
Multilink Point-to-Point protocol (PPP) is not enabled for ISDN adapters or connections using multiple devices when you run the Internet Connection Wizard (ICW). CAUSEWhen you run the ICW on Small Business Server (SBS) version 4.5, you are prompted to create a new phonebook entry if one does not already exist for the connection. This process does not allow for enabling multilink control. Because multilink control is required by some ISDN devices so that additional channels can be activated during a connection, you may not know that you are not connected at full speed. RESOLUTION
Check with your ISDN device's documentation or manufacturer to determine if multilink control is required to activate additional channels on the device. If it is required, manually enable this functionality in the phonebook entry designated in the ICW. STATUSThis behavior is by design. MORE INFORMATIONNot all ISDN devices require that multilink PPP be enabled for additional channels to be connected. Enabling this functionality by default may prevent some devices from establishing a connection at all. Please check with the device's documentation or manufacturer for information about configuring and using this functionality. Additional query words: smallbiz
