SUMMARYIf BackOffice Small Business Server (SBS) client computers are shut down with Microsoft Outlook still running, the Client Access License (CAL) that was being used by Outlook may remain locked open. If this occurs on enough SBS clients, it is possible that too many CALs may be locked open even though there may be enough CALS on the server. Locking the CALs open may result in users not being able to access their mailboxes. MORE INFORMATION
All SBS client computers should be "gracefully" shut down and then powered off. This means that you should quit any programs that are running first, then shut down Windows NT properly. Windows is shut down properly by performing the following steps:
