ID: Q240716

  • Microsoft Team Productivity Update for BackOffice Server 4.5

SYMPTOMS

You may receive the error message listed below in any of the following situations:

  • When you are adding an owner or member in the Create a New Team Workspace HTML Wizard, and you then click either Next or Back

  • When you click Configure within a workspace in which you are an owner, choose to modify the owners or members, and then click Next or Back

An application error has occurred and an application error log is being generated.

IEXPLORE.exe
Exception: stack overflow (0xc00000fd), Address: 0x70bd9fbe
This error message occurs only if you add owners or members using the network domain list rather than typing the domain account information manually.

CAUSE

This error message occurs if the Microsoft Office 2000 Server Extensions components are installed and the Discussions feature is turned on in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 when you attempt to add owners or members to a new Team Workspace request.

WORKAROUND

To prevent the error message from occurring, use any of the following workarounds:

  • Turn off the Discussions feature by clicking Discuss on the toolbar in Internet Explorer.

  • When you add an owner or member with the wizard, type the appropriate user name rather than selecting it from the domain list.

  • Use the Team Productivity Update (TPU) Management console to create a new Team Workspace on the server rather than using the HTML wizard.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

The stack overflow error message occurs only when the domain list is enumerated when you select a domain name from the list. After the Domain Users box is populated, adding an owner or member and then clicking Next or Back triggers the error message. If the domain user list is not enumerated, the error message does not occur.

As stated in the "Cause" section, the stack overflow occurs only on a computer with the Office 2000 Server Extensions Discussions feature enabled in Internet Explorer 5.
