The information in this article applies to:
-
Microsoft Team Productivity Update for BackOffice Server 4.5
SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to drag a link on to the Microsoft Outlook Bar control in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 within a Team Workspace (TWS), you may receive the following error message:
You are not currently connected to the database server for your
Team WorkSpaces. You can still work in your teamSpaces but any
changes that you make to the TeamWorkSpace icons will not be saved.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs if Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.1 or later is not installed on the client computer. MDAC 2.1 or later must be installed for the collaboration between Microsoft SQL Server and the client to occur.
RESOLUTION
After you install Team Productivity Update (TPU), a client installation point for MDAC 2.1 is copied and set up on the TPU server. To gain access to the installation point, use the following steps:
- Browse to the Team Productivity Update Server Start Page (http://servername/tpuweb, where servername is the name of the server).
- Click the Go to Client Software Installation Page link.
- Click the Microsoft Data Access Components 2.1 link.
- When the File Download dialog box is displayed, click Run this program from its current location, and then click OK.
- Click Yes to accept the licensing agreement.
- The Setup wizard starts. When the Welcome page is displayed, click Next.
- Click Complete to install all of the data access components.
- When the Successful Completion dialog box is displayed, click OK.
MORE INFORMATION
There are two additional ways to obtain MDAC 2.1:
- On a TPU server, the MDAC 2.1 installation files are stored in the Tpushar shared folder in the MDAC 2.1 folder by default. (\\servername\TPUShar)
- You can also obtain MDAC 2.1 or later from the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/data/
