TPU: Error Message While Attempting to Add a Team Folders Application to Team Workspace

ID: Q241160

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Team Productivity Update for BackOffice Server 4.5

SYMPTOMS

When you are attempting to add a Team Folders Application (such as Discussion Forum, Document Library, Team Calendar, Team Contacts, or Team Tasks) to a Team Workspace, the following error message may occur:

Unable to add the Application_Name application to your Team Workspace. Ask your system administrator to verify that the Team Folder Wrapper Service (TFWrapSvc) on the server is started and configured properly.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you have an incorrectly configured or stopped Team Folders Wrapper service (TFWrapSvc). TFWrapSvc requires that a domain logon account be used for the service startup parameters. This domain account must also be a member of the local Administrators group.

RESOLUTION

To configure TFWrapSvc properly:

  1. Create a domain account with administrative rights to the local server. Be sure to also create a mailbox on the Microsoft Exchange server for this account.

  2. After you create the account, start Microsoft Outlook 2000 on the server.

  3. Locate the Public Folders location in which the Team Folders Applications are installed (by default, the location is TPUTeamFolders).

  4. Right-click the TPUTeamFolders folder, and then click Properties.

  5. Click the Permissions tab, and then click Add.

  6. Add the mailbox you created for the new account in step 1, and then click OK.

  7. Click the account you just added, change the Permission Role to Owner, and then click OK.

  8. In Control Panel, double-click the Services icon.

  9. Double-click TFWrapSvc in the list of services.

  10. Change the Startup Type to Automatic.

  11. Change the Log On As setting to This Account.

  12. Type the domain account and password information for the account to which you granted administrative rights in step 1, and then click OK.

  13. If the service is started, click Stop to stop it, and then click Start to start it. If it is stopped, click Start to start it.
