TPU: "CopyFile Failed" Error Message When Running Setup

SYMPTOMS

When you click the Install Team Productivity Update icon on the Setup screen, the following error message may be displayed:

CopyFile failed !
Make sure that TPUSetup.exe is not running already.


CAUSE

This behavior can occur because of any of the following reasons:

  • Team Productivity Update (TPU) Setup is currently running.


  • The user that is currently logged on does not have permissions on the Temp folder.


  • The Tpusetup.exe file in the Temp folder is set to read only.



RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the appropriate method:

  • Make sure another version of TPU Setup is not currently running.


  • Verify that the user that is currently logged on has permissions to the Temp folder and the Tpusetup.exe file located in that folder.


  • Verify that the Tpusetup.exe file in the Temp folder is not set to read only.
