Cannot Rename or Remove Team Workspace Group in Outlook 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you try to rename a team workspace group and then quit Microsoft Outlook 2000, you may receive the following error message:

Team Workspace

You have renamed or moved Team Workspace shortcuts and/or groups. For details, review the information below.

Shortcuts and/or groups:

Unable to rename the team workspace name group.
Also, when you try to remove a team workspace group from the Outlook bar, the following error message may be displayed:
Team Workspace

Unable to remove team workspace group.

You have attempted to remove a team workspace group. To make changes, contact your team workspace owner.


CAUSE

This problem occurs because Outlook 2000 does not have the appropriate rights to modify or delete team workspace objects maintained by the Team Productivity Update (TPU) data base.


RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, hide the workspace group:

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, click Microsoft Team Productivity Update, and then click TPU Start Page.


  2. Click Manage Outlook Bar Groups, click to clear the appropriate team workspace group check box, and then quit Manage Outlook Bar Groups.



STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.


MORE INFORMATION

Team workspace groups cannot be deleted or renamed from the Outlook bar in Outlook 2000. If you need to rename any Outlook bar team workspace groups, you must delete and then recreate the appropriate team workspace group names at the Microsoft BackOffice server.
