TPU: Setup Does Not Display Drives with Labels of 14 or More Characters

ID: Q243259

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Team Productivity Update for BackOffice Server 4.5

SYMPTOMS

When you are selecting the location for the Team Productivity Update (TPU) core files during TPU Setup, one or more drives may not be displayed when you click Change Folder.

CAUSE

TPU Setup does not display a drive as a possible location for the TPU core files if the drive's label contains 14 or more characters.

Note that the installation location for only the TPU Core Files and Client Share components can be modified. However, this problem affects only the Core Files component.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use any of the following methods:

  • Accept the default location for the TPU core files.

  • Change the affected drive's label to 13 or fewer characters.

  • If the drive's label must remain as it is, change the drive's label to 13 or fewer characters temporarily, install TPU, and then change the drive's label back when the installation is complete.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Team Productivity Update for BackOffice Server 4.5.
