TPU: Team Workspace Wizards Allows the Creation of an AIM Application Without an Owner

ID: Q243305

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Team Productivity Update for BackOffice Server 4.5

SYMPTOMS

After you create an AIM application within a Team Workspace, the Administrative page may not be accessible. When you try to view the Administration page, you may receive the following error message:

Error code: 1214: You do not have the correct permissions to view this page.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if an AIM application is created without an owner. When this occurs, the permissions on the application's public folder, as well as the Administration folder beneath it, do not have an owner.

When you create an AIM application, the Team Productivity Update (TPU) Team Workspace wizards do not prevent an application from being added without an owner.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem:

  1. Start Microsoft Outlook, and find the public folder in which the TPU application was added.

  2. Right-click the application's public folder, click Properties, then click Permissions.

  3. Click the user who should be the administrator, click Owner in the Role box, and then click OK.

  4. Right-click the Administration folder underneath the application's public folder, click Properties, and then click Permissions.

  5. Click the user who should be the administrator, click Owner in the Role box, and then click OK.

After you follow these steps, the user who is set to be the owner of the application should be able to gain access to the Administration folder.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
