SUMMARY
The Small Business Server (SBS) Fax service can enable adaptive answer features on a fax modem so that you can use one modem to receive both incoming faxes and incoming Remote Access Services (RAS) calls. This function can be enabled by default by SBS if it detects your exact fax modem model from the %SystemRoot%\System32\Faxadapt.lst file. MORE INFORMATIONA modem that is identified during installation as a modem in the Faxadapt.lst file may not work correctly if the modem is incorrectly detected. The best way to enable adaptive answer is to contact the modem's manufacturer to make sure that the modem supports adaptive answer, and obtain the correct .inf file for the modem's firmware revision. The following modems are contained in Faxadapt.lst file and are automatically configured for adaptive answer:
