SYMPTOMSWhen Remote Access Service (RAS) clients connect to a computer running Small Business Server (SBS) with the Fax service configured to receive incoming faxes, any of the following error messages may be displayed:
CAUSEThis behavior can occur if you configure a modem to receive both incoming fax calls and RAS calls. If you receive these error messages with a modem that is configured for adaptive answer, the adaptive answer strings that are added to the registry by the modem .inf file may be incorrect for the modem. RESOLUTIONTo verify that adaptive answer is causing the behavior, use either of the following methods:
MORE INFORMATIONYou should dedicate one modem to the Fax service if the server is configured to receive incoming faxes. If you cannot use multiple modems, you must contact the modem manufacturer to obtain the .inf file that contains the correct adaptive answer strings for the modem.
