TPU: TPUSetup.log File Indicates Errors While Uninstalling Team Productivity Update

ID: Q245360

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Team Productivity Update for BackOffice Server 4.5

SYMPTOMS

After you remove Team Productivity Update (TPU), the TPUSetup.log file may note that the TPU uninstallation process encountered errors. For example:

* Directory 'C:\WINNT\Profiles\Administrator' was not removed (for destination '_Generated_1'). (apdest.cpp:359)

* Directory 'C:\WINNT\Profiles\All Users' was not removed (for destination '_Generated_3'). (apdest.cpp:359)

* Directory 'C:\WINNT\Profiles' was not removed (for destination '_Generated_2'). (apdest.cpp:359)
The TPUSetup.log file is located in the TEMP folder.

CAUSE

When TPU is installed, Setup keeps track of the parent folders for all of the folders that it creates. It does so in case it needs to create the hierarchy down to a nested subfolder. Because these folders are marked during the installation of TPU, they are also examined when TPU is uninstalled. Because TPU did not create these folders, it does not remove them, and logs this in the TPUSetup.log file.

RESOLUTION

Because these folders were marked during the installation of TPU, and the error messages only note that the folders were not removed, no action is required.
