SYMPTOMS
When you send a fax from a Microsoft Windows 98/95-based client using the Small Business Server (SBS) Windows 98/95 fax client software, the cover page date and time format always appear in U.S. format, regardless of the regional settings of the Windows 98/95 client, or the SBS server. CAUSEThis problem occurs because the SBS Windows 98/95 fax client is hard coded for the U.S. date and time format. RESOLUTIONTo work around this problem, remove the date and time portion of the cover page using the SBS fax cover page editor, and then use the branding banner's date and time to indicate fax creation date and time. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. MORE INFORMATIONThe branding banner date and time is the very small top line on each fax page. This line is generated by the SBS server, and formatted according to the server's system default regional settings within the following registry key: HKEY_USER\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\InternationalThe values for the branding date and time are taken from the SBS server date and time. A reboot is required after changing the computer default locale with the Regional Settings tool in Control Panel. The cover page date and time entry is generated by the SBS Windows 98/95 fax client software, and always appears in U.S. date and time format regardless of the regional settings from either the client or SBS server. The values for the cover page date and time are taken from the client's current date and time. The cover page date and time is hard coded to U.S. format within the Windows 98/95 fax client software. An assumption was made that U.S. locale SBS will always require U.S. format date and time. International English locale SBS is the 40-bit export version of U.S. locale SBS. The SBS Windows NT Workstation fax client software is aware of the regional settings of the Windows NT client, and alters the cover page date and time format accordingly. The values for the cover page date and time are taken from the NT client's current date and time. Additional query words:
