Err Msg: Your Account Is Not Configured to Accept Charges

ID: Q163865

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Commercial Internet System version 1.0

SYMPTOMS

The problem occurs when a client browses to a charged page (name$.htm). The user will receive an HTM page that reads:

Your account is not configured to accept charges. The item you
requested
for download must be purchased. Your account is not configured to
accept
charges. Contact the service provider that maintains your membership
for
   this site.

CAUSE

This can occur when the user(s) and the broker accounts do not have assigned rights to the Member_Billable_Acct token. This token must be assigned to both the user(s) and the broker accounts where billing is involved.

WORKAROUND

Ensure that the membership accounts involved have rights to the Member_Billable_Acct token.

MORE INFORMATION

When you are troubleshooting this problem, you need to find out if this problem occurs for every user that browses to a pay-for page, or if some users succeed while others fail. If every user is affected, it's more likely that the broker account is missing this token. Use the Sysadmin tool to determine if the broker has at least "user" level rights to this token.

If some users are affected, but some can access the page okay, it's more likely the user(s) are missing the token. Again, use the Sysadmin tool to determine if the user(s) have any level of rights to this token.
