UA: Error 457 Caused by Duplicate Name

• Microsoft Site Server version 2.0, used with:
  • Microsoft Usage Analyst

SYMPTOMS

In Usage Analyst, the following error occurs:

Error 457 - This key is already associated with an element of this collection.

CAUSE

Somewhere in the database a duplicate name has been used. For example:

• In the site properties, the software mistakenly create a second site with the same ID as another site.



• In the import module, the same query string variables are assigned to two different sites.



• Trying to import Metadata information that assigns one or more values to duplicate names.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, locate the duplicate information and change it so that it only appears once in the database. To do this, either delete the information or change the name. In the database, the same value can be assigned to one or more names, but each name can only be used once.
