PBS Import of Region File Fails If Region Name Contains Apostrophe

SYMPTOMS

When you use PBAdmin to import a file that contains a name with an apostrophe, the import fails and the following error message appears:

An error has occurred during command line processing. See import.log in the application directory for details.
The Import log states something similar to the following:
4/3/98 3:14:39 PM, <phone book name>, An unspecified error occurred on import. -
<phone book name>; Region ID = 1


WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, remove the apostrophe from the region name.


RESOLUTION

A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Commercial Internet System service pack that contains this fix.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Commercial Internet System, version 1.0 Service Pack 2.
