  • Microsoft Commercial Internet System version 2.0

SYMPTOMS

When you perform an NNTPBLD -a operation to build newsgroup directories from an active file, you may receive the following error:

   E:\>nntpbld -a active.txt
Using File E:\active.txt as an Active File
Saving Service output to file C:\TEMP\bui14.tmp
Failed to get rebuild status : error - The I/O operation has been
aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request.

NOTE: Your drive letter assignments may differ.

CAUSE

NNTPBLD requires the full path to the active file, even though the display shows the correct path.

RESOLUTION

The correct syntax in this case should be as follows:

   E:\>nntpbld -a e:\active.txt

When this command is issued with the full path, the following output occurs:

   E:\>nntpbld -a e:\active.txt
Using File e:\active.txt as an Active File
Saving Service output to file C:\TEMP\bui18.tmp
   100 percent done....
Nntpbld completed with 100 percent progress
