Space in URL Causes Content Analyzer to Hang

• Microsoft Site Server version 3.0

SYMPTOMS

Site Server 3.0 Content Analyzer hangs during a crawl of a site when there is a space in the URL, for example:

   <A HREF="Link.htm #bookmark> This is a test. </A> 

CAUSE

Content Analyzer gets stuck in a loop because it is comparing the original URL string and a processed URL string. The space is being dropped in the processed string.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, apply the latest Site Server 3.0 service pack.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Site Server version 3.0. This problem has been corrected in the latest U.S. service pack for Microsoft Site Server version 3.0.
