SYMPTOMSAfter you install Site Server 3.0 Service Pack 1 (SP1) on an Alpha computer where Windows NT 4.0 SP3 and SQL Server 6.5 SP4 are installed on a single physical hard disk drive, the server may stop responding and display a blue screen with a Stop 0x00000024 error message in Ntfs.sys or a Stop 0x0000000A error in Ntoskrnl.exe. CAUSEThis is a problem in Ntfs.sys that is exposed by sustained heavy disk I/O. RESOLUTIONA hotfix is available from Windows NT support that fixes the problem in Ntfs.sys, hotfix 135148. Please contact Windows NT Support to obtain this hotfix. WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, install one or more additional hard disk drives on the server and place SQL Server and/or Site Server on a different physical disk drive from Windows NT. This will balance the load across the spindles and avoid the error by reducing the load on the spindle containing the operating system.
