Cannot Create Virtual Directory in Administrator Program

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to create a virtual directory in the Microsoft Commercial Internet System (MCIS) Administrator program, the following error message may be displayed after you specify the virtual directory name:

The system can not find the path specified.
Normally, you are prompted to specify the location of the virtual directory after you specify the virtual directory name.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0 or Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. For additional information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Commercial Internet System version 2.0. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition Service Pack 4.
