Access Violation Occurs with Persistent Filters Enabled

SYMPTOMS

The following error may occur in Site Server Analysis Report Writer if persistent filtering is enabled and the SQL Server option for Select into/Bulk Copy is disabled:

An application error has occurred and an application error log is being generated. Report.exe Exception: access violation (0xc0000005), Address 0x0f025008

CAUSE

The SQL Server option for Select into/Bulk Copy is disabled. Persistent filters are temporary filters that are created by selecting a subset of data from one table into another.

WORKAROUND

To enable the SQL Server option for Select into/Bulk Copy for the Analysis database, perform the following steps:

1. Run SQL Server Enterprise Manager.



2. Expand the databases tree.



3. Right-click on the Analysis database.



4. Choose Edit.



5. Choose Options.



6. Select the Select into/Bulk Copy option. Truncate log on checkpoint should also be enabled.



7. Stop and restart SQL Server.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Site Server version 3.0.
