SYMPTOMSWhen you attempt to install the release version of Site Server 3.0, you receive the following error:
CAUSEThe release version of Site Server 3.0 requires that the beta version be uninstalled first. However, Site Server 3.0 installation will also halt with this error message if the following registry key is missing or has a value less than 3.0: Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Site Server\CurrentVersionNOTE: There is a space between "Site" and "Server" RESOLUTION
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that
may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot
guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry
Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Site ServerIf the CurrentVersion key exists but is something other than 3.0, uninstall the previous version of the Site Server beta. MORE INFORMATIONIf the installation of Site Server 3.0 is canceled or aborted, the CurrentVersion key may be left blank.
