Hit Count Report Incorrectly Assigns Values to Subwebs

ID: Q204163

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Site Server version 3.0

SYMPTOMS

When you import log files from a single log data source that contains multiple subwebs, the hit count report incorrectly assigns the values to the subwebs.

CAUSE

The Usage Import module assigns hits based on the first pattern match found and does not continue looking for a "better" match. Therefore, if the root Web is listed first, all hits are assigned there, and the hit counts for the subwebs are all zero.

RESOLUTION

This problem has been resolved in Site Server 3.0 SP2.

WORKAROUND

Move the root Web site to the bottom of the Log Data Source list.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Site Server 3.0.

MORE INFORMATION

The subweb is in a single directory below the root directory, for example:

http://mysite --Root site
http://mysite/sub1 --subweb 1
http://mysite/sub1/dir1 --directory 1 of subweb 1
