SYMPTOMSAlthough a Commerce site can run out of the WWW site root, it is not possible in Commerce Server 3.0 to administer a site out of the site root through the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) Commerce Host Administrator or through the HTML Commerce Host Administrator. CAUSEThis problem occurs because the MMC and the HTML Host Administrator use the Commerce AdminSite object to administer the sites, and the Commerce AdminSite object requires a virtual directory (VDIR) to initialize properly. WORKAROUND
There are a few possible workarounds. The recommended option is to run the site from the VDIR created by the Site Foundation Wizard, and if necessary, set up a redirect from the Default.asp in the root Web to the Default.asp in the VDIR housing the Commerce Server site. Additional query words:
