Site Server Usage Analysis Report Writer Fails Against Web Farm Log Source with SQL 6.5

ID: Q235129

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Site Server version 3.0

SYMPTOMS

Errors occur with report writer when working in a Web farm environment using multiple log datasources. Errors only occur when reporting against a Microsoft SQL 6.5 database. If reporting is performed against an Access database, it functions correctly.

CAUSE

When reporting against a SQL database, values in SQL "where" clauses are not single quoted. This causes SQL to issue an error and quit the report.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Site Server 3.0. For additional information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Q219292 How to Obtain the Latest Site Server 3.0 Service Pack

WORKAROUND

To workaround this problem, report against Access database instead of SQL Server.

STATUS

This problem was first corrected in Site Server 3.0 Service Pack 3.
