Performance Issues When Running Subtree Queries on Attributes Other Than RDN

ID: Q242147

SUMMARY

When you run subtree queries on attributes other than the Relative Distinguished Name (RDN), some Personalization and Membership (P&M) performance issues may occur.

MORE INFORMATION

For most LDAP commands, upgrading the Directory Store to Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 provides equal or enhanced performance over SQL Server 6.5. There are a few conditions, however, that lead to a degradation of performance. These conditions occur when you perform LDAP subtree searches in a SQL Server 7.0 environment. The problem lies in the filters that contain attributes other than the RDN. For example, a partial subtree search originating from the "ou=members" container, where the query filter specifies the LDAP server, should return all objects with "givenName=bob*".
