SYMPTOMS

When you install Site Server 3.0, Commerce Edition on a computer running Windows 2000, the following error messages may occur:

File(s) failed to self-register.
C:\Microsoft Site Server\Bin\xenroll.dll
Cannot set attribute description
Details:
Error:80071392


CAUSE

The Site Server 3.0, Commerce Edition Setup program is attempting to update a protected DLL (Xenroll.dll). This behavior is normal and is documented in the Site Server 3.0 Service Pack 3 Readme.


RESOLUTION

These error messages can be ignored without any problems. Click OK to continue installing Site Server 3.0, Commerce Edition.


MORE INFORMATION

Xenroll is a protected file installed by Internet Explorer 5.0. The Site Server installer attempts to overwrite this DLL, but Windows 2000 protects the newer version.
