Importing Proxy Log File in an Access Database May Fail if Log File Contains a Pipe Character

ID: Q249222

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Site Server version 3.0

SYMPTOMS

When you import a log file with log entries that contain query strings with a Pipe Character ("|"), Usage Import quits and displays the following error message:

Error Querying the Import Job.
Error 3077: DAO.Recordset Syntax error in string in expression.
This problem only occurs when using the Usage Analysis Version for use with an Access Databases.

CAUSE

The presence of the Pipe character in a query string causes Uas.exe to quit because the Jet Engine uses this character as a field delimiter in SQL statements.
