SMS: Inventory Package Using Checksum and CRC Fails

Microsoft Systems Management Server version 1.2

SYMPTOMS

An inventory package using "Checksum" and/or "CRC" fails to be reported in software inventory, and does not appear under the Packages icon in Personal Computer Properties.

NOTE: This problem does not occur on client computers running Windows NT.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do not use Checksum or CRC as defined parameters for your inventory packages.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Systems Management Server version 1.2. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
