When you install Microsoft Systems Management Server version 1.2 Service
Pack 3 (SP3), a new Remote Control Video Helper service, Rchelp.sys, is
installed. This service assists with the Remote Control acceleration driver
and is normally installed by default for all clients that are running
Microsoft Windows NT regardless of whether their driver is actually
accelerated.
An Event 7026 is recorded in the client's Windows NT Event Viewer system log. CAUSEThis occurs because the Client Configuration Manager service does not remove the RCHELP service from the client's registry, even though the file is removed. Running Upgrade.bat does not correct the problem. WORKAROUND
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that
may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot
guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor
can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Systems Management Server version 1.2 Service Pack 3. A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression- tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix.
