SMS: Unable to Inventory Software with Year 2000

ID: Q188061

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Systems Management Server version 1.2

SYMPTOMS

When you try to inventory software, you are unable to query files with a file date of year 2000. The Systems Management Server Administrator program allows you to select a date in the year 2000 in the File Date dialog box, but after clicking OK, the DATE property is not recorded.

For this problem to occur, the file date must have a value between 1/1/00 and 12/31/00. Requesting a file with a date value outside that range works correctly.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but has not been fully regression-tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Technical Support to obtain the fix. If you are not severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Systems Management Server service pack that contains this fix.
